Rules Tied To A Debt Collection Agency

By Robert Sutter

A number of rules are going to have to be considered when it comes to the work of a debt collection agency. I believe that there are so many to take into consideration and you can be certain that each of them play into the utmost quality of the work done. That being said, what are some of the greatest rules to take into account, you may wonder? There are many to take into account and they come together in order to bring the highest quality of work to the surface.

One of the rules to take into consideration when talking of a debt collection agency has to do with the hours of communication. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act has stated that only during the hours of 8 AM to 9 PM can collectors contact debtors for reasons related to their case. The fact that communication cannot be done outside of them goes to show how important the work in general is. This is just one of the rules, though, that are followed by agencies such as Rapid Recovery.

It's apparent that there are a number of rules to take into consideration when talking about communication, too. It's not difficult to see what the most typical methods are on the matter, phone calls arguably being some of the most reliable. The FDCPA states, though, that collectors are not to put professional means to use. For example, postcards are not to be utilized since they are not viewed in the same vein as telephone, email, and other means that have been used for years.

If a debtor requests communication to be stopped, outside of litigation, it has to be honored. Keep in mind that this does not stop the case, since the matter of debt is something that should still be addressed. This rule doesn't just limit itself to the home but other vital locations, such as the debtor's place of work. When this particular guideline is followed, it goes to show just how professional this particular line of work can be, provided the best agencies are set in place.

When it comes to the work of a debt collection agency, it's clear that there are many other rules to follow. Each of them is important, as they are able to play into the strongest results seen in the long term. The question of which rule is the most important, though, is subjective and everyone is going to pick out a different one. In my mind, though, each of them play into the highest quality of work that is put forth by an agency of this caliber.
