What if you could discover a Secret a Tip or Ethical Trick to explode your business now (no matter what kind of business you have or want to have) simply by reading this article? Would it be worth your time? Think you know it all? Think again...
Is There a SECRET?
There is a Secret: The SPAM SECRET. Do you really know what SPAM is? You think that anti-SPAM laws are keeping you from rapidly growing a large email list of people who have voluntarily asked you to keep sending them emails, don't you?
You believe that it is against the law for you to send a single email to someone you don't know - and that it is doubling down dumb and super illegal to send a lot of people your don't know, a lot of emails. AND in any case, you wouldn't ever do it even if it was legal!
I'm NOT suggesting that you email a bunch of strangers. Let's just DARE to delve into something that is so out of bounds that right this second you are thinking about not reading the rest of this article. I'm asking you to do yourself the favor of keeping an open mind for a few more minutes.
FIRST:
If you don't know it already, the power of business today is in "your email list." Imagine you own a neighborhood sports bar. When your customers visit, you offer to give them special deals at special times by email if they just sign up for your alerts. This is also now being done with text as well.
What if you could email your offer to thousands of potential customers who don't know that your sports bar even exists?
In the case of online marketing of digital products, there are marketers with lists of thousands and even hundreds of thousands of volunteer subscribers. It is commonly said that each name on the list is worth $1 a month. If you have a list of 20,000 people, you can make $20,000 month marketing to that list.
Let's just say the $1 per email member per month figure is true across all business models. That would mean that if you have a dry cleaning shop and you have 3,000 people in your email list, you are making an extra $3,000 a month. Is that a fortune? NO - but it isn't peanuts either, is it?
We have all opted into an email list or two online because we were offered something if we did it. Typically, we do this because we want the information Most of us are also familiar with the process of the double opt in. We are also aware that at the bottom of the emails we signed up for there will always be a way to stop the emails, right?
SECOND:
We all have been lead to believe that the above description is the ONLY way to build a list - that doing anything else is SPAM. We believe this because we know there is a law against sending unsolicited emails. Guess what? What 99.9% of us believe is true is NOT true!
The CAN-SPAM LAW we are all think we know is actually just the rules by which you (or anyone) can send unsolicited emails to anyone! Shocking? Yes and no.
Why is it shocking? Well, to realize how wrong we all are is just shocking. Why is it not shocking? It is not shocking because the societal prohibition against sending unsolicited emails is so strong - it makes it so wrong in our minds, it doesn't really matter to 99.9% of the population if it is legal AND 99.9% will SKIN alive anyone who sends them an unsolicited email, right? Yes and no.
THIRD:
There are a right way and a wrong way to do almost everything in life, don't you agree? Here's an example: Let's say that you are absolutely nuts about gardening. Let's say that I own a large garden shop. I also sell small tractors - everything to do with gardening to hobby farming.
Let's say that one day I send you an unsolicited which is a bold and "in your face" ad for my gardening shop. I'm guessing I have just made sure you'll never do business with me and you are going to verbally "shot gun" me in a return email.
What if I send you an email with one major twist? What if I don't make the slightest attempt to sell you anything - AND there is no link to a website or anything else in the email of a commercial or "sales" nature? The email is personal and warm in tone. It is not too long. It is easy to read. It is a list of absolutely fantastic gardening tips.
Now, let's say you are a bit of a nut when it comes to gardening. YOU are actually blown away and grateful for these great tips. And because at the beginning of the email I explained that I just wanted to share gardening tips with people who like gardening and if that bothers you, please accept my apologies and unsubscribe by clicking here... well maybe you'll just decide to let it ride.
So, I send another email the next week with more fantastic out of the park tips for you. Are you upset? Again, the unsubscribe system is clear and easy to use. You LOVE the content. Guess what?
I am building a relationship with you - a total stranger - simply because I am giving with no expectation of gain for me. (Well, maybe I think that someday you might come by my place of business or you might share the emails with others) = but you know that I have some motivation of some kind in the background, don't you?
Why don't you Un Sub if you know that I DO have some ulterior motive? You stick with me because you are coming to "love me" for not being overtly commercial, while literally giving you tons of great value.
Here's the REALLY cool part:
Using common, cheap, existing, legal software while following the simple rules of the CAN-SPAM law (notice that the name of the law is "can-spam" and not "can't-spam") you could start your relationship with not one stranger, but with thousands. Yes, many quit getting your email. Only about 20% to 30% will even open your email. Out of those, some more will quit.
You can build a group that trust you from people you do not know, people you probably would not ever do business with otherwise, without even speaking to them.
Now, you may not want to do this at all - but you now know something 99.9% of people do not know.
What should you do next?
