Why Google Should Be Afraid Of Twitter And Facebook

By Abraham Joseph

It is possible that Google may be worried about certain social networks that have taken a world by storm in the last few years. Google used to reign supreme in regard to their ability to command the most people visiting their website to search for information, and also was the primary place that most people used PPC advertising.

If you think about online auctions, for instance, when eBay came on the scene, many other companies tried to copy their success, only to fail miserably. Google was one of the first websites to offer a very easy way to find quality information online.

Despite the fact that Yahoo also had a hold in the search engine world, it's quickly lost its prominence in regard to Google. Therefore, Google is having trouble competing against Facebook and Twitter because they have created something absolutely unique in regard to social interactions online. Google Plus is Google's attempt to compete in this market, but because it came later on, it will never have a foothold these other two websites do.

Social media sites also allow people to get personalized search results. If someone wants to know more about a movie, or would like to get a book recommendation, they're far more likely to use social media than Google. They can ask their friends answers to the questions and get answers tailored directly to them. Google can't provide that.

Plus, the Google Plus platform is clunky and hard to understand in comparison to how easy Facebook and Twitter are to use. That is why Google will continue to lose its foothold in social media circles, and the other companies will continue to thrive.
