What Is Church Outreach And Its Impact To A Society

By Tammie Caldwell

One of the responsibilities that Jesus left to his disciples is to go into the world and make new followers. The church doctrine requires that people go out and minister the gospel to others. It is, for this reason, that churches have a ministry that is responsible for reaching out to people who do not know the faith. What is church outreach and its impact to a society?

It is a negative trend, and Christians need to change because how will we be able to fulfill the great commission if we live such life. Churches can also tap the potential of the internet and preach the gospel to a wider reach of people. In the olden days, Christ would teach in the open air where he met people, and he was able to preach without any problem.

There are many churches in this day and age that has transformed the lives of people because of preaching the word in open air areas or holding conventions. The internet is also expanding to areas that missionaries could not reach in the olden days. Now with a click of a button a person can reach sermons or stream live services from the comfort of their home.

A life that pleases God is a life that replicates what Jesus did. Christ was not interested in a life of wealth but one that shared life widely to every person he could reach. The great commission was to for disciples to reach out to people from all walks of life and share with them the good news of Christ.

A church that wants to grow must invest their resources into preaching the word of God. Preaching does not mean that it is done in the confines of the churches only, but it means that you get out of the world and reach out to the lost souls. Life after you have given your life to Christ can be so satisfying to the extent that you only feel that you are the only person entitled to salvation.

We no longer have an authority to give the moral direction of certain controversial issues. Let us now look at the role of the Bible word in the life of a Christian in relation to evangelism. It does not help as a born again person who just attended services without reaching other people.

It does not help to judge other people based on the faith we profess. Instead, we should labor to get to their level and tell them how they would benefit by coming to Christ. Others might have known the word previously, but the pressures of the world had chocked them, and they might have resorted to their former lives.

In the ministry of outreach, a person needs to forget about their status and visit all places the rich and the poor and share with them the love of Christ. A church that has a plan to transform lives in their time must make a habit of going to the people with evangelism. If we remain in our comfort zone, there is no way we can change the lives of other people.
