The desire to make an impact in the world and on the people around them with their intense photographs is something that all great photojournalists have. Preventing boredom with a place or item is ideal for any photojournalist.

Great photojournalists have a love for adventure, as this is the main reason many choose to become photojournalists. These people enjoy traveling to far away places, where most of the action and adventure is. A lot of the exciting things do not happen in one's own backyard. Travel is a must for photojournalists, in order for them to take great shots. Sometimes, your budget doesn't allow for traveling internationally, so a quick visit to a new city might be all that it takes to take a fantastic photograph.

You have to be brave to qualify to be a good photojournalist. Some of the big names in the industry earned their fame from work they did in dangerous places such as the Amazon forest or even in war torn countries. The strength to go down there usually pays off, but that doesn't mean you jump on any danger for the shot.

You have to have very fast reflex in taking the photos. You may have a camera with very high shutter speed, but if your reflex is low, then you will miss the moment. Train yourself such that your mind acts almost simultaneously with your hand. The communication between your brain and your hand should be instant and sometimes you even don't realize that you thought of taking the photo when you already took it.

Confidence is another quality that is a must for a good photojournalist who is looking to make it big in the industry and make a name for him or herself. Do not shy off to ask people if you can take their photos while they are going on with their daily lives. In the streets, if you see something that is worthy taking a shot at, be confident and go close for the perfect shot.

Show compassion in the photos you take if you are taking for a desperate person or anything that needs humanitarian assistance. Let your photo speak out for that person to get the need they want. There is a thin line between exploiting the person's vulnerability to gain recognition and showing compassion so go for the latter.

Great photojournalists in Boston, MA take their passion for great photographs and become successful only after they master all of the abilities mentioned. These skills take years in the making, so patience is key when you desire to become a successful photojournalist.
