Open Season For Tech Bloggers - Find Out Why

By Ila Formaggioni

If you are thinking about starting a blog, start with having a theme for what you will be writing about. If people like what they see, they will more than likely keep coming back to see what is new. Whether you are trying to make an informative blog or one about music, there is no reason why your blog should not be interesting and unique.

When you are starting to blog, it is important that you never give up. You are not going to get a lot of readers your first day, and even your first week, and that is okay. Just keep writing what you are passionate about, and the readers will come to you.

If you are an internet marketer, use your blog to build your email list. While posting direct advertising posts in the blog will probably turn off readers who come to your blog for information, putting an email sign-up box on your blog's sidebar, gives readers an unobtrusive way to receive marketing information from you should they like your blog.

Try finding your size yourself. Figure out a post size that will fit with your skills and habits. Don't copy other bloggers, try finding what works for you by experimenting. Some 600-700 words per entry, and some write 2000-3000 words per entry. Try testing what works for your own writing style and needs.

Keep your individual post focused on one point. Blog with the full knowledge that you will be making many subsequent posts and if you tell everything in the beginning you may not have anything left to say later! Think of your blogs as being the spokes in a wheel. By themselves they are important but as a wheel they are incredibly important.

Purchase a domain name instead of using a site that is free. It is not expensive to do this, and it will assist you in looking more professional. It will be far easier for your readers to remember. This is even more true if your domain name contains your business name or other aspects of your branding.

Try writing for your readers. A blog is generally personal, but if you wish to grow an audience of more than a couple of people, try writing for the readers too. Try thinking about how the readers can benefit from your posts. If you wish to be a single beneficiary here, you should create a private journal.

Everything you do can end up being the subject of a blog. Take notes when you are away from the computer, if you stumble across an idea that may translate into a post. You want to always keep your eyes open for subject ideas. Writing is the easy part, it's coming up with the initial concept that usually leads to writer's block.

Now that you have read some tips about blogging, it is time to apply them. Make sure that you have all the knowledge that you need so that your blog will be a success. Work hard on your blog, and the rewards that you get will be well-earned.
